Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about creating and tracking QR codes.

Getting Started

No sign-up is required to generate and download QR codes. You only need an account if you want to save QR codes and access analytics tracking.

Yes! CQRG is an open Next.js + Prisma app. You can run it locally or deploy it to any platform that supports Node.js (Vercel, Railway, Fly.io, etc.). The database uses SQLite by default, or you can switch to Postgres.

QR Code Types & Customization

CQRG supports 9 types: URL (website link), Wi-Fi (auto-connect to a network), vCard (contact card), Email (pre-filled email), SMS (pre-filled text message), Phone (call link), Social Media Profile, Bitcoin (payment request), and Plain Text.

Yes! You can change the foreground and background colors, choose from 5 dot styles (Square, Dots, Rounded, Classy, Extra-Rounded), 3 eye/corner styles, and upload your own logo. The QR code updates live as you make changes.

In the Generator, scroll to the "Logo" panel on the right and click the upload area. Supported formats are PNG, JPG, and SVG. When a logo is present, the QR code automatically uses high error-correction level (H) to ensure reliable scanning despite the covered modules.

Yes. Select the "Wi-Fi" type, enter your network name (SSID), password, and security type (WPA/WPA2, WEP, or None). When someone scans the QR code with a smartphone, it will offer to automatically connect to the network.

Dot style controls the shape of the small data modules that make up the body of the QR code. Eye style controls the three large square corner markers (called "finder patterns" or "eyes"). Combining different dot and eye styles lets you create distinctive, on-brand designs.

Downloads & Formats

You can download your QR code as PNG (high-resolution, great for print and digital), SVG (vector format, scales infinitely), or PDF (ready for documents and presentations). All three formats are free, with no watermark.

Yes. Generating, customizing, and downloading QR codes is free, with no account required and no watermark. The site is funded by advertising displayed in clearly marked slots around the tools and articles. Ads are never placed inside the QR preview or over the generator controls, and we ask for your consent before any advertising cookie is set.

Analytics & Tracking

When you save a QR code and use the generated tracking link, every scan is logged with the device type (Mobile/Desktop/Tablet), operating system, and country. You can view all this data in the Analytics Dashboard, including a 30-day daily trend chart.

Downloaded QR code images never expire. They are standard QR codes and will keep working as long as the destination they point to exists. Tracked codes redirect through a link on our domain, so they depend on this site staying online; for print runs you cannot reprint, consider encoding your destination directly instead of using a tracking link.

Only the time of the scan, a coarse device category (mobile, tablet, or desktop), the operating system name, and the country reported by our hosting provider. We do not store the scanner’s IP address, precise location, or any identifier that could follow a person between scans. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
