About

Why we built CQRG

Most QR code generators fall into one of two camps. Either they are free but produce a plain black square with someone else’s branding stapled to it, or they are polished but put basic things (a logo, a colour, a download without a watermark) behind a subscription you have to cancel by email.

CQRG came out of that frustration. We wanted a generator where the design controls are the point rather than the upsell: five dot styles, custom eyes, real colour control, a logo in the middle, and PNG, SVG, or PDF out the other end. Then we added the piece that usually costs the most elsewhere: scan analytics. Knowing whether anyone actually scanned your poster is the whole reason to use a trackable code.

What we believe

Free where it counts

Generating, customizing, and downloading a QR code is free and needs no account. The codes you create are yours, with no watermark and no expiry imposed by us.

Careful with data

Codes are rendered in your browser unless you explicitly save one. Scan analytics are deliberately coarse: device category, OS, and country, never an identifier that follows a person around.

Useful analytics, not vanity metrics

Scan tracking exists to answer practical questions: is this poster working, which city responded, did the reprint help. Nothing more invasive is needed to answer them.

Design that still scans

Every styling option is paired with the technical guardrails that keep a code readable: automatic error-correction bumps when you add a logo, and guidance on contrast and quiet zones.

How this site is funded

CQRG is supported by advertising. That is the trade that keeps the generator free and account-free: you see ads in clearly marked slots around the tools and articles, and we do not have to charge for the basics or resell anything about you. Ads never sit inside the QR preview or on top of a control, and we ask for your consent before any advertising cookie is set. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Who writes the guides

The articles on our blog are written in-house by the people building the generator, drawn from the support questions we actually get: why a printed code fails to scan, how large a code on a billboard needs to be, when to use error-correction level H. They are edited for accuracy rather than volume, and we update them when the advice changes.

Get in touch

We read everything sent to support@cloudqrgen.com. Bug reports, feature requests, and corrections to the guides are all welcome. See the contact page for the right address and what to expect.
