QR Code for a Google Review

The code is the easy part — any link becomes a QR code in seconds here. The part people get wrong is the link itself: point at your general listing and a customer has to hunt for the review box; get the direct link and they land straight on it.

Finding the direct review link

In your Google Business Profile, look for "Get more reviews" (sometimes labelled "Ask for reviews") — it generates a short link that opens your listing straight to the star rating and review box, in the form g.page/r/…/review. That is the one to encode; it is built specifically for this.

If your profile does not surface that option, you can build the same kind of link yourself from a Place ID: https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID. Find the Place ID for your listing with Google's Place ID Finder, then paste it into that URL pattern.

Where this earns more reviews than a poster alone

Timing matters more than placement: a code on a receipt, handed over at the moment someone is already satisfied, converts better than the same code on a wall nobody reads on the way out. A table tent works for a sit-down business for the same reason — it is in front of someone who has just finished, not someone walking past.

Save the code here as a dynamic one and you can swap the link later without reprinting — useful the day your listing merges, moves, or a rebrand changes the profile URL underneath it.

What gets encoded

https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJexamplePlaceID123

A standard https link, opened like any other. Google's own "Get more reviews" short link (g.page/r/…/review) works exactly the same way and is the one most Business Profiles offer directly.

Use the direct review link, not your general profile — it skips a step for the customer.
Hand the code over at the moment of a good experience: on a receipt or at checkout, not on a wall.
Save it as a dynamic code so a profile change later does not strand the code you already printed.

Questions

Where do I get my Google review link?

Open your Google Business Profile and look for "Get more reviews" or "Ask for reviews" — it generates a short link in the form g.page/r/…/review that opens straight to the review box. That is the link to encode.

Can I encode my Google Maps listing link instead?

You can, but a customer lands on your general listing and still has to find and tap the review button themselves. The direct review link skips that step, which is the difference that actually affects how many people follow through.

Is it against Google's policy to ask for reviews with a QR code?

No — asking customers to leave a review is allowed. What is against policy is offering an incentive for a review or filtering who gets asked based on how happy they seem; keep the ask neutral and open to everyone.
